September 2026 bulletin and urgent appeal:

This year, rescues across the UK are seeing an extraordinary number of cats and kittens needing help and Cats Whiskers Rescue (East Herts) is no different.

Kitten season is becoming a year-round problem, with unwanted litters, unneutered cats and owners struggling to cope all contributing to the pressure on rescues.

The RSPCA explains more about what is happening in this short clip:

At Cats Whiskers Rescue, every cat and kitten arriving with us needs food, veterinary care, foster space and, ultimately, a safe and loving home. They are responsibly homed as neutered cats and with owner agreements for kittens. We are very low on funds and we have existing cats we need to ensure are able to receive veterinary care and food and litter that they need. We urgently need donations of money or food and litter.

If you are thinking about adding a cat to your family, please consider rescuing rather than buying. By choosing a rescue cat or kitten, you aren’t creating demand for another animal to be bred — you are giving one that already needs a home the chance of a happy future.

And if you already have a cat, neutering is one of the most important things you can do to help prevent the cycle of unwanted kittens. Cats are fertile from around four months old. and should be kept inside until neutered.
